Giving out gifts, reciting songs, dancing to music, performing the “tennis kolo” (kolo – traditional Serbian dance)… All this happened at the traditional New Year’s gathering at “Match’n play” tennis school.
Although our main goal is to teach your children to play tennis, we are not just an average tennis club. We are a family.
That is why before every New Year we organize a traditional New Year’s gathering at our tennis courts. We give out sweets boxes that we prepared for the children, play tennis, hang out and take pictures, and we also have a special entertainment and educational program in which both parents and children participate.
This year was no exception.
About 25 children, together with their parents, came to our tennis courts for a traditional gathering. In order to get the sweets boxes that we prepared for them, the kids had to prepare and present some talent other than tennis to everyone.
While some recited the verses of their favorite songs, others performed fantastic dance choreographies. Some showed physical readiness by skipping rope for a long time, and there were those who stunned with their ambition, enthusiastically presenting their plans for the future.
Of course, tennis was not absent from the gathering. This time, the skill level didn’t matter – tennis was played for fun. In order for everyone to have space to enjoy tennis, we set up small nets, and instead of balls, we gave balloons to the youngest players. Even the parents played tennis, both with the children and with each other.
The crown jewel of our traditional New Year’s gathering was the “tennis kolo”. Forming a circle while holding hands, the children danced together with the coach, jumping to the side at a fast pace. Sporting spirit and togetherness filled the tennis courts. Everyone had fun, and worked out a bit as well.
Everyone left the gathering with a smile. The children were happy, and the parents were delighted.
